Created by concerned students at Vermont Commons School, Pages for Prisoners is a project that collects and distributes books, games and other needed materials to incarcerated people throughout New England.  We are completely volunteer-run, so every item you donate goes straight to a prison to help inmates further their education.  Education is the key to breaking the prison cycle!

We cannot do it without you, so please dust off those old dictionaries and other books and do one of the following:

  • Drop them in one of our convenient Pages for Prisoners Book Drops, locations listed on the map

  • Bring them to the front office at Vermont Commons School, 75 Green Mountain Drive, South Burlington, VT

  • Send a box of your books to the address above.

OUR VISION

Delivering books to prisons

across New England:

Education is the solution!

Pages for Prisoners

Why donate?
There are more jails than colleges in the US
Knowledge gained from books allow for greater opportunities once prisoners are released.
Women are being incarcerated at an alarming rate

76% of women in Vermont prisons have children and 20% came to prison pregnant. Mothers, regardless of status, need proper education of how to best care for their bodies and children.

Books help inmates stay physically and mentally healthy.

Many of these books are self help books, health books, or instructional books.

If America’s prison population were a city, it would be the size of Houston.
These people need a resource to get educated.
